Natural Sunscreen

What is Natural Sunscreen?
Natural and organic sunscreen are terms that are used and sometimes they truthfully do not apply to the products that use them. Many of these “natural” sunscreens will include ingredients like titanium, parabens and contain petroleum chemicals. Research has such that many of those ingredients along with other chemicals in sunscreen products lead to tissue damage, free radical production and allergic reactions.
Titanium Dioxide is a photoactivator that can often times react with chemicals contained insunscreen. This can help in the production of free radicals and also aide in their cancer forming abilities.
Real natural sunscreen products contain only natural products. Many are biodegradable, have no perfumes, colorings, synthetic filters and preservatives. Often times the natural ingredients are from plants, flower extracts and herbal extracts. These products when used together can give you effective protection from the sun without the problems of inorganic sunblock.
Natural sunblock is safe to applied to babies skin under the age of 6 months old.
Natural sunscreen is generally more expensive than your typical sunscreen. This is due to the type of ingredients that are used. If natural products decided to use benzophenone, homosalate, methoxycinnamate, octinate, parsol or titanium dioxide then they would be in direct contradiction of their purpose of being a natural product. Their use of natural products make them more expensive, but in the end it is better and more beneficial to the skin.
Practical Natural Sunscreen Protection
There are practical methods to provide some amount of natural sun block. These are but not limited to wearing white clothes. Stay out of the sun. Find shade.
You can also smear mud or fruits such as berries on the skin to be used as natural sunscreen.
You can also build up your body’s natural protection against the sun. This can be done with a proper nutrition. This means if you eat vegetable products such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, spirulina, goji berries, chlorella, astaxanthin and carrots it will build your skins natural UV protection.
Make sure you have proper eye protection such as dark glasses. Ensure they have both UVA and UVB protection from radiation.
In the summer, limit exposure when the sun is harshest. This is from 11 AM to 1 PM. If you have children, reduce exposure to the sun particularly during the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
